“We will swear RAILA ODINGA as President to replace UHURU/ RUTO” – Starts TROUBLE
Former Nairobi Mayor, George Aladwa, is currently facing treason charges for allegedly claiming that former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, will be sworn into office as President on July 7, if President Uhuru Kenyatta fails to dialogue with CORD leaders.
Aladwa, who is also the ODM chairman in Nairobi, was arrested on Saturday evening and taken to Central Police Station, Nairobi, where he allegedly recorded a statement.
It is not clear whether he was released but multiple sources said Aladwa is still in police custody waiting to be taken to court on Monday to face treason charges.
Last week at a meeting in Nairobi, Aladwa allegedly said CORD coalition will swear in Raila Odinga as President if President Uhuru Kenyatta fails to meet them.
Aladwa also said President Uhuru Kenyatta must meet Raila Odinga or at least send emmisaries as he did during the Westgate terror attack.
“If that doesn’t happen, we are going to buy Bible and Quran and swear in Raila as our President ,” he said.
The former PM has so far condemned Aladwa’s arrest and termed it as a plan by the Government to silence and intimidate the opposition.
