RAILA ODINGA vows to remove military from Nairobi by force – UHURU/ RUTO have failed Kenyans on security as they are more
Monday December 30, 2013 – Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, has opposed the move by the Government of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, to form a Central Military Command to fight terrorism in Nairobi.
Speaking yesterday, the former PM noted that creation of a Nairobi Metropolitan Command is like establishing a “demigod” which cannot be allowed.
He vowed to fight Uhuru/ Ruto until they remove all military personnel from the streets of Nairobi because their presence causes chaos and confusion in town.
Raila noted that insecurity in Kenya had worsened under Uhuru/ Ruto’s Presidency and that CORD will play its rightful role to keep the Jubilee Government on its toes to make sure Kenyans live in peace.
“We are less secure today than we were at this time in 2012. The Westgate attack, the most vicious on our country in over a decade, is yet to be fully investigated. We will be demanding a complete withdrawal of military from our streets”, said the former PM.
He said he would push to have the police reformed in line with the Constitution to deal with the rising terrorism threats, instead of using military for internal security.
