RAILA ODINGA was right UHURU/ RUTO are dictators – they threaten to repossess and switch off Citizen/ NTV/ KTN permanently
Friday December 27, 2013 – The Government of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, has threatened to repossess all television broadcast frequencies owned by Citizen, NTV and KTN.
This came just few minutes before the Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK) switched off analogue broadcast to digital broadcast on Thursday mid-night.
Prior to the switch off, the Cabinet Secretary for ICT through the CCK wrote to the three Media Houses asking them to give reasons why they should be allowed to retain the their frequencies.
The Government now wants the three top media stations commanding over 80% of viewership in Kenya to cede the transmission of their contents to KBC (Signet) and a Chinese Company.
Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, had earlier warned that Uhuru and Ruto want to shut KTN/NTV/Citizen TVs to give KBC and his own K24 an opportunity to make billions by punishing the poor people in the country as well as control the flow of information.
CCK has approved 45 different models of set of boxes, whose prices range from sh4, 000 to sh8, 000 each.
