RAILA ODINGA is FRANCIS MUTHAURA’s age mate! – WILLIAM RUTO tells CORD supporters and MPs and urges them to SHUT UP
Monday December 30, 2013 – Deputy President, William Ruto, has defended the appointment of former Head of Civil Service, Ambassador Francis Muthaura, by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday saying that the appointment reflects a mixture of old and young leadership.
Speaking in Kwale County on Sunday, Ruto said among the 26 state appointments done on Friday, 70 percent comprise of the youth while 30 percent are old guards who have brilliant experience in running the public service.
Friday’s appointment of 26 heads of parastatals has elicited mixed reactions from members of the Jubilee Alliance, with some MPs terming the appointment whose beneficiaries were mainly politicians, some of them rejected at the ballot in March, as skewed and representative of the “old order”.
But Ruto moved to assure Jubilee MPs that future appointments will ensure the youth are the majority.
“The President and his Deputy had gone against their pledge to give priority to young people and that commitment still stand”, Ruto said.
On the appointment of Muthaura, Ruto told off those opposing it saying ‘they’re the same ones who wanted another old man (Raila) voted.’
“It is ironical that MPs who are opposed to Muthaura’s appointment overwhelming voted for (Opposition Leader) Raila who is an age mate,” Ruto said amid applause from his supporters in Kwale County.
He also said the Jubilee Government will do anything to ensure that it fulfills all its pledges to Kenyans.
