This is why JAKOYO MIDIWO wants to do away with devolution – MCAs are TOO GREEDY – they have rejected 165,000 salary.
Friday November 29, 2013 – Members of County Assemblies have once again rejected a new proposal by Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to increase their salaries by a whooping sh2.64 billion over and above the sh5 billion, which had earlier been proposed.
The SRC had increased the MCAs’ pay from a minimum of sh79, 200 and a maximum of sh105, 600 to a minimum of sh123, 750 and a maximum of sh165, 000.
The new proposal would have seen public coffers expend a whooping sh8.4 billion annually on salaries for County Reps considering that they are 1, 450 in number.
However, speaking yesterday, the MCAs representative led by the chairman of the Speakers forum, Dr. Nur Abdi, rejected SRC’s proposed salaries for MCAs, saying it was peanuts and that they will continue with the boycott.
The MCAs said they will never go back to work until SRC increases their salaries to sh275, 000 from the current sh79, 200.
This explains why Gem MP and Deputy Minority Leader in the National Assembly, Jakoyo Midiwo, wants President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, to do away with the devolution because it is too expensive for Kenya.
Midiwo has proposed to reduce the number of MCAs to a manageable figure because they are too greedy and are over milking the poor Kenyans.
Should the MCAs be done away with?
