Our Client is a leading integrated manufacturing and FMCG concern with products covering a wide spectrum of domestic use and with operations across the East, Central and Southern Africa region.
Due to market growth and desire to increase and support its brand presence; the company is seeking for qualified, self-driven, innovative, energetic and go getter professionals to be part of its Sales and Marketing team.
The positions up for grabs are;
(1 Position)
Role Overview: The job holder will be responsible for leading the design and execution of channel/customer related strategies based on deep understanding of shoppers, category, product and trade.
He/she will also design and execute programs to build capabilities of sales and commercial organizations across Kenya to execute trade marketing strategies.
He/she will be responsible to ensure sales delivery by closely collaborating with sales managers to ensure sufficiency.
The role involves high levels of collaboration with category managers, regional marketing and local sales organization to ensure short term and long term product sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in conducting internal analysis of the department by providing data related to Distribution sales performance of the region.
  • Work to achieve Channel Members/Distributor sales targets as per Company annual Plan.
  • Continuously appraise & report on Channel Members/Distributors’ Networks, gaps, opportunities.
  • Maintain and update Channel Members/Distributors database containing all the details related to distributors of the specified region.
  • Ensure that all the Distributors in the particular region are aware of the various products. In case of any kind of product training, usage training etc is required the same should be arranged with the help of head office.
  • Monitor the sales performance of distributors and track the sales of various products sold by Distributors.
  • Ensure reports are prepared as per schedule and required format and share the reports with Head Office.
  • Ensure timely payment by Channel Members/Distributors of the region.
  • Ensure promotional activities done by marketing team covers Channel Members/Distribution sales channel and assist marketing team in conducting those activities.
  • Liaise with delivery person to ensure that deliveries to Channel Members/Distributors are done as per schedule.
  • Assist Channel Members and distributors in formulating their sales plan, promotions, reporting etc.
  • Gather market information in the Assigned Regions and share with DDM & sales team at Head Office.
  • Operationalize customer business plans as agreed.
  • Adhere to the set company systems, policies and procedures.
Qualifications / Skills & Experience:
  • Must be a holder of a Degree either in a business or marketing discipline
  • A sales and Marketing Professional training is an added advantage
  • 10 years and above Experience in FCMG is required  with demonstrated Financial Planning and Strategy, Marketing Concepts, Positioning, People Management, Territory Management, Sales Planning, Competitive Analysis, Understanding the Customer, Product Development, Client Relationships and  Creative Services
  • Candidates with knowledge of coast region and will have an added advantage.
  • Must have good business acumen and entrepreneurial abilities
  • Must have good reporting, communication, computer and Problem solving skills
Territory Trade Marketers [TTM]
(3 Positions)
Role Overview: The role of the Territory Trade Marketer is to manage his/her territory in order to achieve brand availability, merchandising and promotion objectives of the territory plan.
The TTM representatives will cover the retail outlets on the basis of a pre assigned route/plan. He/she will positively influence sales of the company’s brands by regular contact, networking and motivation across existing and new accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a territory trade marketing plan which meets the objectives of the area trade marketing plan in the areas of brand, volume, merchandising and promotion.
  • Ensure that the territory distribution objectives of brand availability, stock holding and stock rotation are achieved.
  • Ensure that product pricing is in line with the company strategy.
  • Implement promotions, develop and execute merchandising programmes with optimum use of resources and materials in order to achieve the highest in-store visibility and sales performance for the strategic brands.
  • Provide market information and reports on performance of customers, brands and competition to ensure that the relevant marketing people are fully informed.
  • Build loyalty by providing support to the trade through regular visits, accurate communication, problem solving, specialised advice and fair trade.
  • Maintain accurate and relevant outlet information.
  • Constantly monitor the achievement of yearly/cycle objectives through accurate reporting and feedback.
  • Encourage consumers and retailers to buy the company’s` brands and strengthen brand loyalty.
Qualification & Experience
  • Degree/Diploma in Sales and Marketing or a relevant course.
  • Should be computer literate and hold a valid driving license.
  • Experience in Key Accounts, Institutions handling and general trade.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills
  • Good business sense and commercial acumen
  • The ability to motivate and lead a team
  • Capacity to build a strong relationship and understanding of a range of customers at the outlet level.
  • Experience of working with customers at the outlet level and a good understanding of how Field Sales operates within the wider Sales organization.
  • Ideally the TTM should have worked as a distribution / sales representative for a period of 5 years.
 Area Trade Marketers [ATM]
(5 Positions)

Role Overview: To achieve volume and distribution targets in order to maximize brand availability and visibility, through the execution of essential Trade Marketing activities in line with the channel, price strategies and the required customer service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement a Trade Marketing and Distribution plan which meets the objectives of trade marketing & distribution and is in line with brand / price strategy and the needs of the trade in order to achieve the Company objectives : volume and value share, numeric and weighted distribution for our drive brands and out of stocks.
  • Achieve trade coverage, visit frequency and outlet visit plan in order to maximise route effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Manage the Distributor, Wholesales, and retailers through the implementation of account strategies and plans in order to maximize volume, share and other distribution management parameters performance viz-a-vis the competition’s.
  • Ensure that the territory volume and distribution objectives of company brands are achieved by trade channel and outlet type so that availability is maximised in line with brand strategies and the needs of the market.
  • Ensure optimal stock levels, product quality and freshness through stock management, orientation to the trade and reporting on supply chain and product issues.
  • Ensure that pricing is in line with the company strategy.
  • Manage financial accounts and assets for the territory to ensure that trade marketing resources are secure and used in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
  • To provide market information and reports to ensure that the relevant marketing people are fully informed at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records & monitoring of the achievement of weekly/cycle objectives and to submit reports as requested in order to ensure effective communication is maintained with management.
  • Develop and manage an effective marketing team (Distributor & the company’s team) through formal and informal coaching , monitoring and training
  • Implement and establish close working relationships with partners (distributors, wholesalers and retailers) in order to gain high levels of trade support and loyalty whilst enhancing understanding of the trading environment
Qualifications / Skills / Experience
  • At least a Diploma in Marketing or its equivalent.
  • Should be computer literate and hold a valid driving license.
  • Candidates should be having experience in Key Accounts, Institutions handling and general trade.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in FMCG industry or related field.
  • Clean and valid driving license
