Chelsea boss MOURINHO reveals SUAREZ admiration but hopes he gets ‘a little injury’ ahead of the crunch clash pitting the Blues and Liverpool.
Sunday, December 29, 2013 – Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Liverpool hit-man Luis Suarez ahead of the crunch premier League clash pitting his charges and the Reds at Stamford Bridge.
The Uruguay goal-machine has scored 19 Premier League goals in 14 appearances this season.
Mourinho said: “Fantastic numbers, fantastic numbers.
“That’s what it is, that’s what it is.”
The Portuguese tactician also joked that he hoped Suarez would pick ‘a little injury’ that would keep him out of Sunday’s clash.
He added: “Maybe Suarez has got a little injury.
“I’m not asking for a big injury… Just a little injury to stop him playing for four days.”
Mourinho also foresees a very tight title race but sees Manchester City as clear favourites.
He continued: “This year I think the pressure will be not only to win the title, it will be to get into the top four. It will be hard. I think Manchester City is a big, big favourite.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers doesn’t expect any ugly scenes between Suarez and Chelsea defender, Branislav Ivanovic.
This tie will see Suarez and Ivanovic come face to face for the first time since the Uruguay international was given a 10-game ban for biting the Blues defender in April.
Rodgers said: “I think it will prove to be a turning point in his career.
“He’s been brilliant in his return both on and off the field so I do not expect any backlash from that.”
